We are excited to announce the official launch of the MSMEs Incubation Program under the Wear the Green Future (WTGF) initiative, a collaborative effort between Boresha Skills Hub and Sprout Africa.

Through this program, selected Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the textile sector from Kiambu and Nairobi Counties will undergo a 3-month incubation journey, focused on fostering circularity, sustainability, and innovation in fashion and textile production.

Boresha Skills Hub is proud to lead the Business Development Services (BDS) component of this program. Our team of experienced mentors will provide one-on-one coaching, tailored business strategies, and hands-on support to ensure that each enterprise is well-equipped to grow sustainably and align with green and circular economy practices.

This initiative reflects our continued commitment to transforming the textile industry through practical training, mentorship, and strategic partnerships. We believe that empowering MSMEs with the right tools and knowledge is key to driving a more sustainable and inclusive future in the fashion ecosystem.

Stay tuned as we share moments from the launch and highlight the progress of these inspiring MSMEs as they embark on this transformative journey!

Empowering Communities, One Tree at a Time! 🌱

At Boresha Skills Hub, we believe in holistic empowerment—not just through skills development but also by nurturing our environment. In partnership with Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA), we recently took part in a tree-planting initiative, reaffirming our commitment to environmental sustainability.

Why Trees?

Trees are nature’s solution to climate change, helping to reduce carbon emissions, improve air quality, and combat desertification.
💧 They conserve water, protect biodiversity, and create a healthier ecosystem for future generations.
🤝 By involving MSMEs in climate action, we ensure sustainable development that benefits both businesses and communities.

As a foundation dedicated to empowering individuals through skills and entrepreneurship, we also embrace our responsibility to create a greener, more sustainable future. Because when we plant trees, we plant hope.

Bringing Digitization to the Jua Kali Sector!

At Boresha Skills Hub, we are committed to bridging the digital gap in all sectors, and this time, we focused on the Jua Kali industry! In collaboration with Jua Kali chairmen and representatives from Thika and its surroundings, we conducted an intensive training on digitization, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to take their businesses online.

💻 Why Digitization?
✅ Expands market reach beyond physical locations
✅ Improves customer engagement through social media & e-commerce
✅ Enhances efficiency with digital payments & online bookings
✅ Creates more growth opportunities for artisans and small-scale manufacturers

The Jua Kali sector has been slow to embrace digitization, but we are determined to change that by empowering entrepreneurs with digital skills that will transform their businesses. A digital future means more opportunities, increased income, and business sustainability!

Boresha Skills Hub at the Nairobi International Education & Career Fair!

We were privileged to be part of the Nairobi International Education and Career Fair, where two of our directors, Mrs. Mary Machina and Dr. Samuel Gachini, sat on the panel to share valuable insights—especially on career opportunities within the Jua Kali sector.

🔹 Why the Jua Kali Sector Matters?
The informal sector is a key driver of employment and economic growth in Kenya. However, many young people overlook its potential as a viable career path. At Boresha Skills Hub, we advocate for the recognition, professionalization, and digitization of Jua Kali businesses, ensuring artisans monetize their skills, access new markets, and secure better opportunities.

💡 Our Key Contributions:
✅ Highlighting the importance of vocational skills in today’s economy
✅ Addressing the digital transformation of Jua Kali enterprises
✅ Encouraging youth to embrace practical skills for self-employment
✅ Advocating for more training, policies, and financial support for artisans

We believe that skills-based careers are the future, and we will continue to champion entrepreneurial empowerment in all sectors!

Boresha Skills Hub at the Launch of the UN Women Gender-Responsive Procurement Project in Kenya!

We were privileged to participate in the launch of the UN Women Gender-Responsive Procurement Project in Kenya, a transformative initiative aimed at increasing women’s participation in economic opportunities. Representing Boresha Skills Hub, our directors, Mrs. Rose Wangondu and Mrs. Mary Machina, engaged in insightful discussions on how procurement policies can be more inclusive and equitable for women entrepreneurs.

Why Gender-Responsive Procurement Matters?

Empowers Women Entrepreneurs – Ensures that women-owned businesses have access to contracts and opportunities that can scale their enterprises.
Bridges Economic Gaps – Addresses systemic barriers that prevent women from competing fairly in procurement processes.

Encourages Inclusivity in Male-Dominated Sectors – Opens doors for women in industries like construction, manufacturing, and the Jua Kali sector.

At Boresha Skills Hub, we are deeply committed to supporting women in the Jua Kali industry, where they face unique challenges in accessing markets, funding, and recognition in male-dominated fields. We advocate for policies, training, and support systems that uplift women entrepreneurs, ensuring that they thrive, compete, and lead in their industries.

This project is a major step toward gender equality in economic participation, and we are proud to be part of the conversation and the action!
